On a new site
- Install and activate Alchemists and your license (see Theme Installation).
- Install SportsPress and set the sport to Ice Hockey (the SportsPress setup wizard asks for it, or go to SportsPress → Settings → General → Sport).
- Go to Appearance → Install Plugins and install the plugins. With the Ice Hockey sport the list includes Alchemists Ice Hockey for SportsPress (required) and SportsPress for Ice Hockey (recommended).
- Optionally import the Hockey demo in Appearance → Import Demo Data (see Importing Demo Data).
The Design option
The design follows the SportsPress sport: with Ice Hockey, the site uses the Hockey design. To choose the design yourself, go to Theme Options → Styling → Design: Default follows the sport, or pick Basketball, Soccer, Football, Esports or Hockey.
Updating from an earlier version? Sites whose SportsPress sport is Ice Hockey switch to the new Hockey design with the 5.0.0 update. To keep the previous look, choose Basketball in Theme Options → Styling → Design.
The plugins
Alchemists Ice Hockey for SportsPress adds what the hockey pages need to SportsPress:
- hockey positions grouped as Forwards (Center, Left Wing, Right Wing), Defense (Defenseman) and Goalies (Goalie), with an Abbreviation field;
- Hand and Birthplace player metrics;
- the skater and goalie columns of the box score (points, plus / minus, blocks, faceoffs, power-play and short-handed goals, time on ice and more) and the season statistics (points, games won and lost, win ratio, goals against average);
- hockey labels for the standings columns (OTL, DIFF, STRK) and the points equation (goals + assists).
When it’s activated, the plugin adjusts the SportsPress configuration of the site: it retitles and reorders the ice hockey columns, groups the positions above, sets the points statistic to goals + assists and turns on the Minutes display of the box score editor (needed for the scoring summary).
SportsPress for Ice Hockey is the official SportsPress extension: it renames SportsPress items in the admin with hockey terms (Games, Arenas).
